How to verify a Claude certification badge before you trust it
To verify a Claude certification, open the candidate's public Credly badge page and check three things: Anthropic is the issuer, the title is one of four credentials, and fewer than 12 months have passed since the issue date. Screenshots and PDFs prove less.
You verify a Claude certification by opening its public Credly badge page, never a screenshot or a PDF. The link has one shape: https://www.credly.com/badges/ followed by a 36-character id. The page should name Anthropic as the issuer, carry one of four credential titles, show the candidate's name, and give an issue date; add 12 months to that date for the expiry, because Credly's Anthropic templates print no expiry line. Pearson VUE score reports are private and are not a verification artefact.
Verify a Claude certification in three checks
Claude certification verification is issuer, title and date, in that order. The issuer must be Anthropic: its Credly issuer page lists exactly five badge templates, the four certifications and a partner badge, so anything issued by anyone else is a different credential. The title must be one of CCAO-F, CCDV-F, CCAR-F or CCAR-P. The issue date plus 12 months must be in the future.
Checked against the official sources on 17 September 2026: the four v1.0 exam guides, the Certification Exam Policy, the partner certification FAQ and the Credly issuer directory. All four exams share the 720 pass mark and the 12-month validity, so the checks do not change with the credential.
What a real Claude certification badge link looks like
Credly gives every issued badge a public page at https://www.credly.com/badges/ followed by a 36-character id in five hyphenated groups, sometimes with /public_url on the end. That is the whole shape. The id belongs to one earner's badge, which is why the same link serves LinkedIn, a resume and a verifier. A PDF certificate is a download taken on one day; a screenshot shows only what a page once looked like.
One easy confusion: Credly also publishes a template page for each credential under credly.com/org/anthropic. It describes the badge type, its skills and earning criteria, and proves that the credential exists, not that a particular person holds it. A candidate who sends a template link has sent you the catalogue.
What the Credly badge page shows
A genuine page is short: the earner's name, the badge image and title, the issuer, the issue date, the earning criteria, a list of skills, and a control that asks Credly to confirm the record is live.

The earning criteria line is the quiet giveaway. Anthropic's four certification templates each say the holder passed the proctored exam for that credential; a course certificate says a course was completed. The Credly badge guide shows the same page from the earner's side, including how the PDF is generated from it.
Claude Credly badge verification: the expiry is the point
Every Claude certification is valid for 12 months from the date it was awarded. Before that date the holder can renew through a free, non-proctored assessment on the Partner Academy; after it, only the full exam at full fee restores certified status. Anthropic's Credly templates do not print an expiry, so the verifier does the arithmetic: issue date plus 12 months. A badge issued in August 2026 is current until August 2027.
Two states end a credential early. Expired means the date passed without renewal. Revoked means Anthropic withdrew it, which the Exam Policy permits after misconduct, and Credly's live record reports revocation where a PDF never can. What a renewed credential looks like on Credly is not yet documented; the FAQ says details will follow before the first renewals fall due. The renewal and expiry post has the timeline, and re-opening the live link at the 12-month mark is the check.
The live page is the credential. Everything else is a copy of it.
A PDF, a screenshot and a LinkedIn entry all derive from the Credly record and none of them updates when it expires or is revoked. Without the link, nothing has been verified yet.
Is a Claude certification real if it came from Claude Academy?
Real, but not a certification. Claude Academy opened on 20 August 2026 as Anthropic's free public learning home, and it issues a completion certificate for each course, with a public verification link and no expiry. The older Skilljar catalogue does the same. Nobody proctored those courses, no fee was paid and no passing standard applied. The proctored certifications are a separate programme delivered by Pearson VUE and badged on Credly, open only to staff at Claude Partner Network firms with a work email on a recognised company domain, which the eligibility guide explains.
A third Anthropic credential sits between the two. The Claude Partner Badge for Claude Code is issued on Credly under the same issuer, to partner staff who complete 8 courses, a 34-question assessment and a capstone. No proctored exam sits behind it, and its template lacks the Certification type the exam badges carry.
Why Pearson score reports are private
Every exam guide describes the same result: pass or fail, a scaled score from 100 to 1,000 with 720 as the cut, and the percentage of items answered correctly in each domain. That report is shown on screen at the end of the exam and stored in the candidate's account on Pearson VUE's Anthropic page. No employer lookup exists, and the Credly badge deliberately shows only that the standard was met.
That is a feature. A criterion-referenced exam certifies that a fixed standard was reached, so a 730 and a 950 hold identical credentials, and the guides say the domain percentages exist to help the candidate, not to rank them. If a candidate volunteers the report, read it as context, not as a score to compare.
Four questions to ask a candidate
The badge answers whether. These questions answer what, and a holder who sat the exam finds them easy. The interview post shows what a good answer to the last one sounds like, and how much weight the credential deserves is the claude certification worth it question.
Which of the four credentials, and when was it issued?
The answer is a name and a month. CCAO-F, CCDV-F, CCAR-F and CCAR-P test different roles, so the name says what was examined.
Can you send the public Credly link?
A holder can make the badge public in seconds. Reluctance to share a link rather than a PDF is worth noticing.
Is it still current?
Validity is 12 months from the issue date. A holder should know whether they have renewed, are inside the window, or have lapsed.
Which exam domain is closest to this role?
Every exam guide publishes its domains and weights. A holder who can connect one to your work has more than a badge.
