Anthropic · Claude Certification Program
The four Claude certifications
Four role-based credentials, delivered as proctored Pearson VUE exams and badged on Credly. Here's what each one tests, who it's for, and how to prepare — including the eligibility rule that catches most people out.
Choose a path
Pick your certification
These are role-based, not a ladder — “Foundations” doesn't mean beginner. Choose the one whose day-to-day work looks most like yours.
Associate
Claude Certified Associate – Foundations
The entry-level Claude credential. Focuses on practical, everyday use of Claude — prompting, evaluating output, choosing the right product surface, and applying it safely inside real workflows.
CCAO-F exam guide →Developer
Claude Certified Developer – Foundations
The developer credential. Covers building on the Claude API — context engineering, tool use, agents, Claude Code and MCP integration, plus the production concerns of shipping an LLM application.
CCDV-F exam guide →Architect
Claude Certified Architect – Foundations
The architect foundations credential. Covers designing agentic systems end to end — model and interface selection, prompt engineering, tool use and structured output, retrieval, MCP, and Claude Code.
CCAR-F exam guide →Architect (Professional)
Claude Certified Architect – Professional
The most advanced Claude credential. Covers enterprise solution design, production integration, governance and risk, stakeholder and lifecycle management, and enabling developer teams at scale.

Questions
Claude certification FAQ
Straight answers to the most common questions.
How many Claude certifications are there?
Four: Claude Certified Associate – Foundations (CCAO-F), Claude Certified Developer – Foundations (CCDV-F), Claude Certified Architect – Foundations (CCAR-F), and Claude Certified Architect – Professional (CCAR-P). They are role-based rather than sequential.
Can anyone take a Claude certification exam?
Not currently. Exams are available to people at organizations in the Claude Partner Network, and registration requires a partner email address on a recognized company domain — personal email addresses are rejected. Joining the Partner Network is free.
Do I need the Foundations certification before the Professional one?
No. There are no formal prerequisites between the exams, so you can attempt Architect – Professional without first holding Architect – Foundations. They are separate certifications rather than an automatic upgrade path.
How long is a Claude certification valid?
Twelve months from the date you earn it. Renewing on time is done through a free, non-proctored assessment; if a certification lapses you have to retake the full proctored exam at full price.
Is there an official Claude certification practice exam?
No. Anthropic's practice exam was retired when delivery moved to Pearson VUE, leaving the sample questions in each exam guide as the only official practice material.
