Claude Certification Guide

Which Claude certification should you take?

Four role-based credentials, no fixed order, and a lot of overlap in the marketing copy. Here is a straight comparison so you can pick the one that matches your actual job.

4 exams comparedRole-based, not a ladder

Pick by what you do, not by seniority

Two things that should influence your choice

  • Partner tier. Developer – Foundations, Architect – Foundations and Architect – Professional count toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility. Associate – Foundations does not. If your employer is paying, this often decides it.
  • Eligibility. All four require a Claude Partner Network organization and a work email on a recognized domain. Check eligibility first — it is the most common blocker.

Frequently asked

Quick answers to the follow-up questions.

Which Claude certification should I start with?

Match it to the work you actually do. If you use Claude day to day but do not write code against the API, start with Associate – Foundations. If you build applications on the API, start with Developer – Foundations. If you design agent systems for others to build, start with Architect – Foundations.

Is Architect – Professional harder than Architect – Foundations?

It is aimed at a more advanced audience — enterprise-scale solution design, production integration, governance and stakeholder management rather than hands-on build mechanics. It is also the longest exam at 63 items. There is no formal prerequisite, but most people take Foundations first for a reason.

Can I take more than one Claude certification?

Yes. They are role-based rather than mutually exclusive, and Developer plus Architect is a common pairing for people who both build and design. Each is a separate exam with a separate fee.

Which Claude certification is best for a non-technical role?

Associate – Foundations. It targets consultants, project leads and business professionals, and focuses on practical everyday Claude use rather than API development. Note it is the one certification that does not count toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility.
