Who can take a Claude certification exam?
This is the single most common thing that stops people booking a Claude certification exam, and it is rarely explained clearly. Read this before you plan your study or spend anything.
The short answer
Claude certification exams are currently open to people at organizations in the Claude Partner Network. Registration requires a partner email address on a recognized company domain, and personal email addresses will not work. If you are an individual learner with no partner-organization affiliation, you cannot sit these exams today — regardless of how well prepared you are.
How to check whether you are eligible
- Find out whether your employer is already in the Claude Partner Network — usually your partnerships, alliances, or cloud/AI practice lead will know.
- Try registering with your work email on the company domain, not a personal address.
- If you hit an email-domain error, your domain is not recognized. That is an organization-level fix, not something you can resolve from your own account.
- If your organization is not a partner, joining the Partner Network is free — that is the route in.
Which certifications count toward partner tier
If your organization cares about Claude Partner Network standing, this distinction matters when deciding who sits which exam:
- Count toward partner tier eligibility: Claude Certified Developer – Foundations, Architect – Foundations, and Architect – Professional.
- Does not count: Claude Certified Associate – Foundations. It is still a genuine credential and a sensible starting point for non-engineers — it just does not contribute to tier standing.
Are there prerequisites between the exams?
No. There are no formal prerequisites, so you can attempt Architect – Professional without holding Architect – Foundations first. They are separate credentials rather than a ladder with an automatic upgrade path. The only real gate is Partner Network access.

Can I take a Claude certification exam with a personal Gmail address?
No. Registration requires a partner email address on a recognized company domain. Personal email addresses — Gmail, Outlook, iCloud and similar — are rejected at registration, which is the most common reason people get blocked.
Do I have to work at a partner company to get Claude certified?
Yes, currently. Certification is available to people at organizations in the Claude Partner Network. Customers and non-partners cannot access the exams at this time.
Does it cost anything to join the Claude Partner Network?
Partner Network membership itself is free to join. Exam fees are separate, and partner tier can reduce them substantially.
I am getting an email domain error when registering. What do I do?
That error means the address you used is not recognized as belonging to a Partner Network organization. Use your work email on your company domain, and confirm with whoever owns your organization’s partner relationship that your domain is registered.
Can I still study for the exam if I am not eligible yet?
Yes, and it is worth doing — the blueprint is public and the skills are useful regardless. Just be aware you will not be able to sit the exam until your organization is in the Partner Network, so get eligibility confirmed before you pay for anything or book a slot.
