Who can take a Claude certification exam?
Claude certification exams are open to people at organisations in the Claude Partner Network, and registration needs a work email on a recognised company domain: personal addresses fail. Joining the network is free at the Registered tier, which carries a commitment to 10 certified practitioners. Here is how to check, and how to register once you are in.
How to check whether you are eligible
- Find out whether your employer is already in the Claude Partner Network. Usually your partnerships, alliances, or cloud/AI practice lead will know.
- Try registering with your work email on the company domain, not a personal address.
- If you hit an email-domain error, your domain is not recognized. That is an organization-level fix, not something you can resolve from your own account.
- If your organization is not a partner, joining the Partner Network at the Registered tier is free, with a minimum commitment to 10 certified practitioners. That is the route in.
How to register for Claude certification, step by step
Registration runs across three systems: the Partner Network, which decides whether your domain is recognised; the Anthropic Partner Academy, where you pay; and Pearson VUE, where you schedule and sit. The steps below follow section 10 of the v1.0 exam guides and Anthropic's official registration guide (PDF), with the parts each of them leaves out.
Get your organisation into the Claude Partner Network. Apply at claude.com/partners. New applicants enter at the Registered tier, which has no fee but carries a minimum commitment to 10 certified practitioners. Nothing else on this list works until your company domain is on Anthropic's records.
Use a work email on that domain. Personal addresses are rejected at sign-in. If a genuine company domain is not recognised, whoever owns the partner relationship emails partner-support@anthropic.com; adding a domain is a record change on Anthropic's side and takes 7 to 10 days to take effect.
Open the exam page on the Anthropic Partner Academy at anthropic-partners.skilljar.com and download the exam guide, the certification terms and conditions and the exam policy. The guide is the blueprint you will study to, so read it before you pay.
Register and pay. Click Register for the exam, sign in with the work email, and check the fee shown on the Register button: it already carries your tier discount. Confirm the order and choose Review and Pay to pay by card. A paid registration stays valid for five years, so paying does not commit you to a date.
Watch for two emails from PearsonVUEConfirmation@e.pearson.com. "Web Account Created" carries your Pearson VUE username; "Notice of Automatic Web Account Creation" carries a temporary password. They usually arrive within the hour and often land in spam.
Sign in at Pearson VUE. Use the Pearson VUE sign-in page for Anthropic exams, not the generic Pearson sign-in. On the first visit you accept the candidate agreement (every box), set a password of 12 or more characters with mixed case and a number or symbol, and answer three security questions in the Roman alphabet.
Schedule the exam. On the dashboard choose Schedule an exam, pick your exam from the catalogue, then OnVUE online proctoring or a Pearson test centre, a date and a time. Accommodations and any name correction (certifications-support@anthropic.com) come before this step, not after.
Put the reschedule cutoff in your calendar and check that the name on your Pearson profile matches your government ID exactly. Both are covered below, and the exam-day walk-through takes it from here.
Exam fees at registration, by code
The fee on the Register button is the list price less your organisation's tier discount. Registered-tier partners pay list; Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners pay 50 percent; and through 31 December 2026 Global Premier partners pay nothing, with the 50 percent rate applying after that date. The reschedule cutoff: 24 hours or 48?
The two official sources disagree. Section 10 of the v1.0 exam guides says you may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before the appointment and that changes inside that window forfeit the fee. Pearson VUE's Anthropic program page and the partner FAQ both say 48 hours. Work to 48: a change made 30 hours out is safe under one document and a forfeited fee under the other, and Pearson's system is the one that enforces it. Canceling in Pearson does not refund the fee: the FAQ says to email certifications-support@anthropic.com to request a refund. The reschedule and cancel guide covers the rest.
Troubleshooting registration
Pearson VUE does not show my Claude exam
Three causes account for almost every case. You signed into an existing Pearson account from another certification programme rather than the Anthropic one created at registration: sign out and use the ANTHROPIC sign-in page. The Academy payment did not complete: registration is done only when you reach the "Welcome and what to expect" page. Or the two account emails have not arrived yet: check spam. If the exam is still missing a day later, contact Pearson support from its Anthropic programme page.
My email domain is not recognised
Either your organisation is not yet in the Partner Network, or it is and the domain is not on Anthropic's records. You cannot fix either from your own account. The partner lead applies at claude.com/partners in the first case and emails partner-support@anthropic.com in the second; a domain addition takes 7 to 10 days, so raise it before you plan a date.
Which certifications count toward partner tier
If your organization cares about Claude Partner Network standing, this distinction matters when deciding who sits which exam:
- Count toward partner tier eligibility: Claude Certified Developer – Foundations, Claude Certified Architect – Foundations, and Claude Certified Architect – Professional.
- Does not count: Claude Certified Associate – Foundations. It is still a genuine credential and a sensible starting point for non-engineers; it just does not contribute to tier standing.
Are there prerequisites between the exams?
No. There are no formal prerequisites, so you can attempt the Architect Professional exam without holding Architect Foundations first. They are separate credentials rather than a ladder with an automatic upgrade path. The only real gate is Partner Network access.

Can I take a Claude certification exam with a personal Gmail address?
No. Registration requires a partner email address on a recognized company domain. Personal email addresses (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud and similar) are rejected at registration, which is the most common reason people get blocked.
Do I have to work at a partner company to get Claude certified?
Yes, currently. Certification is available to people at organizations in the Claude Partner Network. Customers and non-partners cannot access the exams at this time.
How do I register for a Claude certification exam?
Once your employer is in the Claude Partner Network, open the exam page on the Anthropic Partner Academy, read the exam guide and policies, click Register for the exam, sign in with your work email and pay by card at Review and Pay. Pearson VUE then emails a username and a temporary password; sign in there, accept the candidate agreement and schedule an OnVUE or test-centre slot.
Why does Pearson VUE not show my Claude exam?
Usually one of three things: you signed into an old Pearson account from another programme instead of the Anthropic one created for you, the Academy payment never reached the Welcome and what to expect page, or the two account emails are still on their way (check spam). Use the ANTHROPIC sign-in page, and if the exam is still missing a day later, contact Pearson support from its Anthropic programme page.
Does it cost anything to join the Claude Partner Network?
There is no membership fee, but there is a commitment. Anthropic’s current Services Track update says new applicants enter at the Registered tier with a minimum commitment to 10 certified practitioners, so joining costs the organization work rather than money. Exam fees are separate, and partner tier can reduce them substantially.
I am getting an email domain error when registering. What do I do?
That error means the address you used is not recognized as belonging to a Partner Network organization. Use your work email on your company domain, and confirm with whoever owns your organization’s partner relationship that your domain is registered. If it is a genuine partner domain that is missing, they email partner-support@anthropic.com; the record change takes 7 to 10 days.
Can I still study for the exam if I am not eligible yet?
Yes, and it is worth doing: the blueprint is public and the skills are useful regardless. Just be aware you will not be able to sit the exam until your organization is in the Partner Network, so get eligibility confirmed before you pay for anything or book a slot.
