The exam policy adds the enforcement side: section 3 lets proctors verify your identity at any point against a valid, unexpired government ID in the registration name, and section 2 lists using an ID that is not yours as misconduct that can invalidate a result. Which IDs Pearson VUE accepts for a Claude exam
The exam guides say only "government-issued photo identification" and leave the list to Pearson VUE. Pearson's Anthropic OnVUE page carries it. As of 17 September 2026 it accepts an international passport; a plastic driving licence; a national, state, provincial or EU identity card; an alien registration card, meaning a green card, permanent resident card or visa; approved Aadhaar cards; non-US military ID including spouse and dependent cards; and a Japanese employee or student ID presented with a Japanese Health Insurance Eligibility Certificate.
The refusals matter as much as the list. Expired, digital, damaged, copied or privately issued IDs are not accepted, nor are birth certificates, naturalisation papers or Canadian health insurance cards. A photo of your passport on your phone is a digital ID and fails. If your only document is not listed, ask Pearson VUE through the Anthropic programme page before you book. Fixing a Claude certification name mismatch before you schedule
The rule is exact match, not close match. A registration that reads "Jon" against a passport that reads "Jonathan" fails it, as does a dropped middle name or a surname that changed after the ID was issued. Anthropic controls the registration name, not Pearson VUE, so every correction goes to certifications-support@anthropic.com, before scheduling.
Compare the two names character by character
Open your Pearson VUE profile and hold your ID next to it. A middle name on one but not the other, a hyphen, an accent or a maiden name are all mismatches under the exact-match rule.
Email the correction before you schedule
Write to certifications-support@anthropic.com from the address your exam is registered with, using the subject line "Name Correction Request". Give your first and last name exactly as printed on the ID, label which is which, and use Latin characters only.
Wait for confirmation, then book
Anthropic says corrections typically take 24 to 48 business hours. If you have already scheduled, the FAQ asks for the request at least 24 hours before the appointment and warns that later requests may not be applied in time.
A Claude certification name mismatch is the one exam-day failure with no recovery path on the day: the FAQ is explicit that Pearson VUE will not seat you and the fee is forfeited. Compare the names when you create the Pearson VUE account, and again before you pay for the appointment.
How to request Claude exam accommodations
Reasonable accommodations are available for documented disabilities and needs, in line with applicable law. The exam guides set the sequence: request them from Pearson VUE, obtain approval, and only then schedule. The exam policy explains why the form lives on Pearson VUE's Anthropic accommodations page rather than in the Partner Academy: where a third-party platform delivers the exam, that platform reviews and administers the request.
Pearson's process runs through its Reasonable Adjustments Request System: create a login, start a request, upload supporting documentation such as a diagnostic report or a detailed letter from a qualified professional, and submit. Pearson asks you to allow 10 business days for review and sends the determination by email with scheduling instructions if approved. Neither the guides nor the FAQ list which accommodations exist, so ask Pearson VUE directly if you need something specific such as extra time or a separate room.
What happens at check-in
Online, Pearson asks you to begin check-in 30 minutes before the appointment. OnVUE runs its technology checks, photographs you and your ID, and walks you through a 360-degree room scan. The ID photograph is where the name comparison happens, so have the physical document out of its sleeve. At a test centre, staff verify the ID against the booking when you arrive, following your confirmation email. In both modes the check can be repeated: the exam policy allows proctors to verify identity during the session, not only at the start.
The rules that forfeit a fee
Three identification and scheduling failures cost the full fee: an unreported name mismatch at check-in, a no-show, and arriving after the permitted late-arrival window. The reschedule cutoff is the fourth, and the sources disagree: the v1.0 exam guides say changes are free up to 24 hours before the appointment, while pearsonvue.com and the Partner Academy FAQ say 48 hours. Treat 48 hours as the deadline.
Fix the name before you pay for the appointment
Every other identification problem can be caught early and corrected for free. A name mismatch discovered at check-in is the one that cannot: the appointment ends, the fee is gone, and you buy the next attempt at the full price less any partner-tier discount.
The guides treat a forfeited fee as a re-registration rather than a failed attempt; the retake waiting periods are written for candidates who sat and did not pass. Either way it means a new purchase at $99 for CCAO-F, $125 for CCDV-F and CCAR-F, or $175 for CCAR-P before your tier discount.
