Claude certification changes since March 2026: the dated record

Claude certification changes have arrived almost monthly since the first exam opened on 12 March 2026: a new delivery platform, a higher fee, a retake ladder, three more exams and a moving discount deadline. Here is each one, dated and sourced.

The Claude certification changes that matter to a candidate in September 2026: the Architect exam launched on 12 March 2026 on Skilljar with ProctorFree proctoring at $99. Delivery moved to Pearson VUE on 30 June, when the CCAR-F fee rose to $125 and a published retake ladder appeared. CCAO-F, CCDV-F and CCAR-P followed on 23 July with Version 1.0 guides. The Global Premier fee waiver now runs to 31 December 2026. Everything else, including a Developer Professional exam, is reported rather than announced.

What changed, at a glance

Nine entries: six trace to an Anthropic or Pearson VUE document, one was observed in the partner certification FAQ without a published date, one is trade press only, one is a scheduled review. The status column keeps them apart, so a reader asking is a Claude certification worth it does not weigh a rumour as a policy.

Six official changes in six months, then a quieter September.

12 March 2026: the first exam opens

Claude Certified Architect Foundations opened on 12 March 2026 through the Anthropic Partner Academy on Skilljar, proctored online by ProctorFree, at $99. Early coverage shortened the name to CCA-F. Credentials earned then had a six-month validity, later extended to 12 months from the original earned date.

3 June 2026: the Services Track and three partner tiers

The Services Track announcement made certification a partner metric: Select needs at least 10 active certified people, Preferred at least 100 and Global Premier at least 1,000, alongside joint-customer and customer-story requirements. CCAO-F does not count towards tier eligibility; the Developer and Architect exams do. See the team business case for certification.

25 June 2026: the exam policy is updated

The Certification Exam Policy is dated 25 June 2026. It treats every question and answer as confidential, names AI assistance and unauthorised published questions as misconduct, gives 14 calendar days to appeal, and reserves the right to retire or replace an exam.

30 June 2026: Pearson VUE, $125 and a retake ladder

Delivery moved to Pearson VUE and the CCAR-F fee rose from $99 to $125. The retake rules date from the same move: 14, 30 and 90 day waits after successive failures, four attempts per exam in a rolling 12 months, each at the full fee less any tier discount. Badges moved to Credly, existing certifications included. A second sitting starts with what to do after a failed attempt.

The four-exam line-up arrived on 23 July; everything else on the right took effect on 30 June.

23 July 2026: three new exams and the Version 1.0 guides

Anthropic announced Claude Certified Associate Foundations at $99 with 60 items across seven domains, Claude Certified Developer Foundations at $125 with 53 items across eight, and Claude Certified Architect Professional at $175 with 63 items across seven. Each came with a Version 1.0 guide effective July 2026, and CCAR-F received its own: 60 items across five domains. All four run 120 minutes and pass at 720 on a 100 to 1,000 scale. Which Claude certification fits your role is a separate guide.

20 August 2026: Claude Academy opens

Anthropic opened Claude Academy, a free course library at academy.claude.com that needs no partner email. A course completion is not a certification: the proctored exams still register through the Partner Academy and Pearson VUE with a work email on a recognised Claude Partner Network company domain.

Late August to mid-September 2026: the waiver moves to 31 December

The FAQ's Global Premier line had said the 100 percent exam discount ran through 31 August 2026; it now says 31 December 2026, then the standard 50 percent. Anthropic did not date the edit; we observed it between 25 August and 16 September. Select and Preferred keep 50 percent throughout; Registered partners pay list price.

Mid-September 2026: three more certifications are reported

ChannelE2E and MSSP Alert reported that Anthropic is developing a Claude Certified Developer Professional exam, a Claude Security certification and a forward-deployed engineering certification. That is the whole public record: no exam code, guide, fee, Pearson VUE listing or Credly badge exists for any of them, and Anthropic has announced none. The entry moves to official when an artefact appears.

1 October 2026: the extra partner tier review

Tier promotions are normally processed on 1 January and 1 July; for 2026 Anthropic added a review on 1 October. A partner counting passes towards Select or Preferred wants them on the dashboard before that date.

CCA-F vs CCAR-F: which code is real

CCAR-F is the code. It is in the Version 1.0 guide, on the official certification page, on Pearson VUE and on the Credly badge. CCA-F appears in none of the four guides or the exam policy; it was the shorthand of March 2026. Since CCAO-F launched in July with a code that also begins CCA, several third-party sites label the Associate exam CCA-F. When you meet the alias, read the domains: five led by agentic architecture is CCAR-F; seven led by prompting and business workflows is CCAO-F.

$175 CCAR-P, 63 items

Every exam runs 120 minutes, passes at a scaled 720 of 1,000, and is valid for 12 months with a free non-proctored renewal on time; a lapse means the full exam at the full fee, as the renewal and expiry rules explain. Retakes wait 14, 30 and 90 days, four attempts per rolling year. One conflict: the guides allow rescheduling up to 24 hours before an appointment; pearsonvue.com and the FAQ say 48. Plan to 48.

Free timed mock exams with no account run at CCAO-F, CCDV-F, CCAR-F and CCAR-P; the practice exams guide covers official material. A mock score is practice evidence, not a prediction of an official result.

Book against what is published, not what is reported

Every exam you can sit today has a Version 1.0 guide, a fee and a Pearson VUE listing; nothing reported has any of the three. Waiting for an exam with no date costs the 12 months a current credential would already be running.

How this page is maintained

Claude certification updates land here within 48 hours of any official change: a new exam guide version, an edit to the partner FAQ or the Pearson VUE programme page, a revised exam policy, or an announcement on anthropic.com. Trade reports are logged as reported, with the outlet named, and never promoted because a second outlet repeated the first. Undated changes carry the window in which we observed them.

Checked against the official sources on 17 September 2026: the four Version 1.0 exam guides, the exam policy, the partner FAQ and the Pearson VUE programme page. Confirm the figure at checkout before you pay.

Key takeaways

  • 30 June 2026 is the hinge date: Pearson VUE delivery, the $125 CCAR-F fee, the retake ladder and Credly badges.
  • CCAR-F is the code; CCA-F is a March 2026 shorthand that appears in no exam guide and is misused by some third parties for the Associate exam.
  • Four exams exist, with Version 1.0 guides effective July 2026: $99, $125, $125 and $175; 60, 53, 60 and 63 items; 120 minutes; 720 to pass.
  • The Global Premier waiver runs to 31 December 2026. The FAQ moved it from 31 August without notice; recheck before quoting it.
  • Developer Professional, Security and FDE are reported, not announced. No code, guide, fee or badge exists.

Questions

Frequently asked

The follow-up questions people search next.

What is the difference between CCA-F and CCAR-F?

They name the same exam. CCA-F was the informal shorthand from the March 2026 launch of Architect Foundations; CCAR-F is the code in the Version 1.0 guide, on Pearson VUE and on the Credly badge. Some third-party sites misuse CCA-F for the Associate exam, CCAO-F.

Is there a Claude Certified Developer Professional certification?

Not as of 17 September 2026. Mid-September trade reports said Anthropic is developing a Developer Professional exam alongside Security and forward-deployed engineering certifications. No code, guide, fee, Pearson VUE listing or Credly badge exists, so it is reported, not announced.

When did the Claude certification move to Pearson VUE?

On 30 June 2026. Before that the Architect exam ran on the Anthropic Partner Academy on Skilljar with ProctorFree proctoring. From 30 June every exam is booked through Pearson VUE, online or at a test centre, and badges come through Credly, earlier ones included.

Is the Global Premier 100 percent discount still available?

Yes, through 31 December 2026, after which Global Premier partners get the standard 50 percent that Select and Preferred already receive. The FAQ earlier gave 31 August 2026; we observed the extension between 25 August and 16 September. Check the live FAQ before quoting a date.

How often is this changelog updated?

Within 48 hours of any official change: a new exam guide version, an edit to the partner FAQ or the Pearson VUE programme page, a revised exam policy, or an Anthropic announcement. Trade reports are logged as reported.
