Claude Certification Guide

# Which Claude certification should you take?

Four role-based credentials, no fixed order, and a lot of overlap in the marketing copy. Here is a straight comparison so you can pick the one that matches your actual job.

4 exams compared · Role-based, not a ladder

## Pick by what you do, not by seniority

These are role-based certifications. “Foundations” does not mean beginner and “Professional” is not a promotion. Developer and Architect test genuinely different skill sets. Choose the one whose day-to-day work looks most like yours.

## Two things that should influence your choice

- **Partner tier.** Developer Foundations, Architect Foundations and Architect Professional count toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility. Associate Foundations does not. If your employer is paying, this often decides it.
- **Eligibility.** All four require a Claude Partner Network organization and a work email on a recognized domain. [Check eligibility first](https://credfarmer.com/guides/claude-certification-eligibility). It is the most common blocker.

## Down to two? Read the pair decision

Most people are not choosing among four but between two. Each pair below has its own comparison, with the decision table, which to sit first and which is harder:

- [CCAO-F vs CCDV-F](https://credfarmer.com/blog/ccao-f-vs-ccdv-f): Associate or Developer first, for people who use Claude at work and are starting to build on it.
- [CCDV-F vs CCAR-F](https://credfarmer.com/blog/ccdv-f-vs-ccar-f): Developer or Architect Foundations, the choice between build mechanics and system design.
- [CCAR-P vs CCAR-F](https://credfarmer.com/blog/ccar-p-after-ccar-f): whether to go straight to Architect Professional or take Foundations on the way.
- [What transfers between the Claude exams](https://credfarmer.com/blog/what-transfers-between-the-claude-exams): the objectives two exams share, for anyone planning a second credential.

## Try one timed form of each

The fastest way to feel the difference is to sit a no-account timed form of each exam and compare the item style and your weakest domain. Each runner shows a reason for every option after you submit:

- [CCAO-F mock, no account 60 items, timed, no sign-up](https://credfarmer.com/practice/ccao-f)
- [CCDV-F mock, no account 53 items, timed, no sign-up](https://credfarmer.com/practice/ccdv-f)
- [CCAR-F mock, no account 20 items, timed, no sign-up](https://credfarmer.com/practice/ccar-f)
- [CCAR-P mock, no account 63 items, timed, no sign-up](https://credfarmer.com/practice/ccar-p)

## Still deciding? Start with any of them

## Frequently asked

Quick answers to the follow-up questions.

**Which Claude certification should I start with?**

Match it to the work you actually do. If you use Claude day to day but do not write code against the API, start with Associate Foundations (CCAO-F). If you build applications on the API, start with Developer Foundations (CCDV-F). If you design agent systems for others to build, start with Architect Foundations (CCAR-F).

**Is Architect Professional harder than Architect Foundations?**

It is aimed at a more advanced audience: enterprise-scale solution design, production integration, governance and stakeholder management rather than hands-on build mechanics. It is also the longest exam at 63 items. There is no formal prerequisite, but most people take Foundations first for a reason.

**Can I take more than one Claude certification?**

Yes. They are role-based rather than mutually exclusive, and Developer plus Architect is a common pairing for people who both build and design. Each is a separate exam with a separate fee.

**Which Claude certification is best for a non-technical role?**

Associate Foundations (CCAO-F). It targets consultants, project leads and business professionals, and focuses on practical everyday Claude use rather than API development. Note it is the one certification that does not count toward Claude Partner Network tier eligibility.
