# What a Claude certification actually costs

The Claude certification cost is $99 to $175 per attempt at list price, and the number you actually pay moves with your partner tier, whether you need a retake, and whether you sit two exams. This is the full cost model, checked against the official FAQ.

$99 to $175 list · 50 percent by tier · Retake = full fee

## Claude certification cost by exam code

Each exam is priced separately and paid per attempt at checkout on the Anthropic Partner Academy. The first-attempt fee below is the list price; the next column is what Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners pay. The Associate exam is the only one still at $99: the Architect Foundations fee rose from $99 to $125 on 30 June 2026, so any page quoting $99 for CCAR-F predates that change.

**Claude certification fees by exam code, at list price and at the 50 percent partner rate**

| Code | Certification | First-attempt fee | At 50 percent | Counts toward tier |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **CCAO-F** | Claude Certified Associate – Foundations | **$99** | $49.50 | No |
| **CCDV-F** | Claude Certified Developer – Foundations | **$125** | $62.50 | Yes |
| **CCAR-F** | Claude Certified Architect – Foundations | **$125** | $62.50 | Yes |
| **CCAR-P** | Claude Certified Architect – Professional | **$175** | $87.50 | Yes |

Fees in USD before discount, as stated in the [official certification FAQ](https://anthropic-partners.skilljar.com/page/faq-certifications) on 17 September 2026. Fees change, so confirm the figure on the Register button before you pay.

## The partner-tier discount and its end date

Exam pricing follows your organisation's Claude Partner Network tier, and the discount is applied automatically at checkout. Registered-tier partners pay list price. **Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners receive 50 percent off.** Through **31 December 2026**, Global Premier partners receive a 100 percent discount on every certification exam; from 1 January 2027 the 50 percent rule applies to them as well. The [FAQ](https://anthropic-partners.skilljar.com/page/faq-certifications) is the source for both the rate and the date, so confirm the live terms before anyone on your team pays list price. Joining the network itself is free at the Registered tier, with a minimum commitment to 10 certified practitioners; the [eligibility guide](https://credfarmer.com/guides/claude-certification-eligibility) has the detail.

## What a retake costs

A retake is the full exam fee, and the tier discount applies to retakes. There is no reduced retake rate and no bundle: your partner-tier discount still applies, but a second attempt at CCAR-P costs another $175 at list or $87.50 at 50 percent. The waiting period grows with each attempt:

**14**days after a first failure

**30**days after a second

**90**days after a third

**4**attempts per rolling 12 months

The limits apply per exam, so a fail on one does not block registration for another. A retake adds another fee and can add up to three months of waiting, which is why the [retake guide](https://credfarmer.com/blog/failed-the-claude-certification-what-next) treats the score report's per-domain percentages as the study list for the gap. Recent timed practice, domain coverage and an explained error log can guide what you review next. They do not determine whether to book or predict the official result.

## Renewal: free on time, full exam after a lapse

A Claude certification is **valid for 12 months from the date you earn it**. Renew on time and the process is a free, non-proctored assessment on the Partner Academy covering what changed since you certified. Let it lapse and you must retake the full proctored exam at the applicable fee. Anthropic also reserves the right to require a full retake instead of the renewal assessment if the exam content changes significantly. Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you accept the badge.

## Worked total cost: three scenarios

The table adds the official fees for the three paths most people budget for. The list and 50 percent columns are arithmetic on the fees above; through 31 December 2026 every row is $0 for a Global Premier partner.

**Worked total cost in three scenarios**

| Scenario | Example | Fees paid | Registered tier | Select, Preferred, Global Premier |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Pass first time** | One CCDV-F attempt | $125 | $125 | $62.50 |
| **One retake** | Two CCDV-F attempts, 14 days apart | $125 + $125 | $250 | $125 |
| **Foundations, then Professional** | CCAR-F, then CCAR-P, both first time | $125 + $175 | $300 | $150 |

Derived totals, not official pricing. Swap in the fee for your own code: the same three paths on CCAO-F come to $99, $198 and, paired with CCAR-P, $274 at list.

## Currency, region and tax

Every official figure is in USD before discount, and the FAQ says nothing about regional pricing or tax. What follows is derived from how Pearson VUE and card issuers normally work, not official pricing: the order review page on the Partner Academy shows the amount you will be charged, a card in another currency converts at your issuer's rate plus any foreign-transaction fee, and whether a local sales tax or VAT is added depends on your country. Read the order review page before Review and Pay, and keep the receipt; Pearson's dashboard keeps its own copy for the exam itself.

## Is the fee worth paying?

At $99 to $175 the fee is small next to the study hours, and the [worth-it analysis](https://credfarmer.com/blog/is-claude-certification-worth-it) weighs both against what the credential is used for. Before you pay anything, sit the [60-item CCAO-F mock](https://credfarmer.com/practice/ccao-f) (or its CCDV-F, CCAR-F and CCAR-P siblings) with no account: it costs nothing and shows you the item style and your weakest domain.

## Review practice evidence as one input

Study guides, checkpoints, and timed practice built to each published blueprint are available across the catalog, and every timed form contributes to Cred Farmer practice-evidence bands. The evidence is not an official-exam pass probability or booking instruction. Individual preparation is free while in open beta.

## Frequently asked

Quick answers to the follow-up questions.

**How much does a Claude certification cost?**

The first attempt is $99 for CCAO-F (Associate Foundations), $125 for CCDV-F (Developer Foundations), $125 for CCAR-F (Architect Foundations) and $175 for CCAR-P (Architect Professional), in USD before any partner-tier discount. Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners pay half. Confirm the live fee at checkout.

**Are there discounts on Claude certification exams?**

Yes, by partner tier and applied automatically at checkout. Registered-tier partners pay full price. Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners receive 50 percent off. Through 31 December 2026, Global Premier partners receive a 100 percent discount; the standard 50 percent applies after that date.

**Is the Claude certification free for Global Premier partners?**

Through 31 December 2026, yes: the official FAQ gives Global Premier partners a 100 percent discount on all certification exams, including retakes. From 1 January 2027 the rate reverts to the 50 percent that Select and Preferred partners already receive. Registered-tier partners pay list price throughout.

**How much does a Claude certification retake cost?**

A retake is the full exam fee for that exam, and the tier discount applies to retakes. There is no reduced retake rate. Recent timed practice, domain coverage and explained errors can guide what you study next. They do not determine whether to book or predict the official result.

**How many times can I retake a Claude certification exam?**

Up to four attempts per exam in any rolling 12-month period, with escalating waiting periods: 14 days after a first failure, 30 days after a second, and 90 days after a third. The limits apply per exam, so failing one does not stop you registering for a different one.

**Why did the CCAR-F fee change from $99 to $125?**

Anthropic raised the Claude Certified Architect - Foundations fee from $99 to $125 effective 30 June 2026, bringing it level with Developer Foundations. The official FAQ records the change without giving a reason. Anything quoting $99 for CCAR-F predates that date; the Associate exam is the only one still at $99.

**Does a Claude certification expire, and does renewal cost anything?**

Yes. The credential is valid for 12 months from the date earned. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment on the Partner Academy covering what changed since you certified. If the credential lapses, you must take the full proctored exam at the applicable fee to regain certified status.

**Are Claude certification prices in USD, and is tax added?**

The official FAQ quotes every fee in USD before any partner-tier discount and says nothing about regional pricing or tax. Treat that as the only official figure. Whether your card issuer adds a conversion fee, or a local tax applies at checkout, depends on your bank and country; check the order review page before you pay.

**Do I have to pay to join the Claude Partner Network?**

No fee. New applicants enter at the Registered tier, which carries a minimum commitment to 10 certified practitioners rather than a charge. Exam fees are separate from membership and are paid per attempt at checkout on the Partner Academy, with the tier discount applied automatically.
